Carbon Fiber in Biomedical Applications

Carbon fiber consists of a multitude of unique physical, chemical and biological characteristics that can be utilized and exploited for a number of diverse applications. It is used widely in imaging equipment structures to support limbs being X-rayed or treated with radiation.

Carbon as an inert element has advantages over other materials because it is a basic constituent of tissues. The high proportion of tissues of living organisms is composed of carbon compounds so it should be tolerated by the tissues.
